YOUR SMARTGATE GUIDE

Simple setup.
Everyday control.

This guide covers SmartGate v2. Older installed controllers may use a different setup process—contact support before changing their firmware.

Open the app ↗

Before you start

A qualified installer must connect and test the controller on a compatible gate board. Have a factory-prepared controller with its QR label, a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network and password, and an email address for your SmartGate account. Keep the original remote available.

1. Open the app & sign in

Open app.smartgate.am on your phone. Choose Armenian, English or Russian. Enter your email address, request the six-digit code, and enter the code from your inbox. Complete your profile when prompted. Never share a login code.

2. Connect the controller to Wi-Fi

Choose Add gate and scan the controller’s label. The setup screen shows your controller’s network name (SmartGate followed by its product number) and its unique setup Wi-Fi password. Connect your phone to that network; if asked, stay connected even though it has no internet. Open the setup page, or visit http://192.168.4.1. Enter your 2.4 GHz home Wi-Fi name and password, then save. Reconnect your phone to the internet.

Can’t see the setup network?

Check power. Hold BOOT for about 3.5 seconds and release, then scan the label again for its unique password.

3. Pair & name your gate

Return to SmartGate and scan the same label again if needed. Pairing succeeds only after this exact controller connects and reports to the service. Give the gate a name and select the matching gate/control style. If it says offline, check Wi-Fi and try again after the controller reconnects. A label alone does not transfer a gate already owned by another account.

4. Use the controls

Select the gate you want to operate. Three-command installations offer Open, Stop and Close; supported single-input boards use a Step command whose effect depends on the board’s current state. Wait for confirmation before repeating a command. Confirmation means the controller received it; it does not prove that the gate reached an end position. Check that the area is clear before operating the gate.

5. Share access

Open the selected gate’s access/controller settings and create a guest invitation. Choose the available one-use, time-limited, scheduled or ongoing access rule. Share the invitation link with the intended person. Treat that link like a key. Review active access and revoke it when it is no longer needed.

6. Change the Wi-Fi network

The owner can use Change Wi-Fi in the app to place an online controller into setup mode. If it is offline, use the physical BOOT/setup button: hold it for about 3.5 seconds, then release. Connect to the controller’s setup Wi-Fi and save the new network details. This resets Wi-Fi while preserving the controller identity and account ownership.

7. Add SmartGate to your home screen

On iPhone, open app.smartgate.am in Safari, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen. On Android, open it in Chrome and choose Install app or Add to Home screen from the browser menu. The app still needs internet access to control a gate.

8. Transfer or remove a controller

Use the account’s gate-removal/release flow before a new owner pairs the controller. A Wi-Fi reset does not remove ownership. Keep the QR label with the controller and do not post a clear photo of its complete code publicly. Contact support if you cannot access the original owner’s account.

Safety & outages

Keep people clear of the gate’s travel area. SmartGate does not replace your gate board’s safety devices. During an internet or Wi-Fi outage, use your existing remote or the manufacturer’s approved manual-release procedure. Electrical work belongs to a qualified installer.
